@MidoAkAGangsta4life Actually the term soccer came from England. It all started when they sat down to make the official rules they called it association football to distinguish it from rugby football. That was then shortened by many to soccer, similar to how some people would call someone whose last name was Johnson, Johner. So soccer is a traditional term started by the English that is carried on by the Americans, not just some random word invented because they call a different sport football.

One would think someone has the brains of knowing when someone says “soccer” said person is american born .And i would also think the world after 100+years of said sport being around the world has the knowledge that when americans say soccer(in person or over the internet) they mean this sport.

Americans didn’t “ruin” anything. The English invented the word Soccer, and it’s the proper abbreviation for “Association Football”, which is what this sport is.
